Response to peer’s project

The first post I decided to respond to is Ashely Leblanc’s Frankenstein playlist. It was such a good idea to compare and contrast excerpts from Frankenstein with music lyrics. Music tells a story just as literature does, and it can also allow us to feel the material on a deeper level. The use of lyrics from the song Human was very fitting, and the choice of lyrics was perfect. The comparison between Thriller, and Frankenstein was very well done; the two texts are actually very similar. The comparison between a horror story and Celine Dion’s All by Myself made perfect sense, and really points out the element of loneliness and alienation in Frankenstein. A song I would add to the playlist would be The Loner by Neil Young.

I think this song would go nicely with Ashely’s playlist because it describes a man who is unable to be freed from his loneliness. This song describes a loner as an unforeseen danger and a perfect stranger. This goes along with the text from Frankenstein because the monster is viewed as an unforeseen danger and a stranger to everyone in the village. This was a very creative project!
