Okay, I know we read Beowulf a fat minute ago, but after I turned in my project it dawned on me, what if Beowulf was a woman? This post will be brief because I would really like to know what other people think here, because here are my theories.
Exhibit a)
Beowulf as a woman would be just the female version of himself. Witty, strong, unmatched, adored, courageous, attractive, and the life of the party.
Strong stance here, chin up, head high, unmatched by any person or monster.
Exhibit b)
Due to the fact this version of Beowulf is a woman she is not glorified whatsoever. Her strength is to masculine for societies liking. She is all but rabid and a ferocious killer who enjoys slaughtering as a game. She would most likely get shot and killed because she posed a threat to villages. Being a woman there would be no need for her in battle situations. Also because of her size and strenght she probably wouldn’t be desired by men because they need to feel like the manly one in the relationship. Life would probably be pretty lonely and she would always be misunderstood.

Beowulf being a woman was never a concept I would have thought of. Seriously, what an interesting perspective to bring into it all! Every hero at this time seemed to be a man, but what if Beowulf was actually a woman? I also liked that you included some visuals on what it would be like if Beowulf was a woman, and it honestly made me laugh to see that the second visual was a picture of Fiona from Shrek in there. Thank you for that. I wonder what the poem would be like if it was written as Bewoulf being female. Would it be slightly different or would there be no similarities at all?
