I chose this poem because I read the title and it immediately thought of “Castle on a Cloud” from Les Miserablés, which is one of my favorite movie and book. Yes, I did read the original 1862 book by Victor Hugo, I am a nerd, we know. The poet talks about floating on a cloud and looking down on the world but it is a dream. I also like how he used the word “gay” as its actual meaning and not the meaning that society has given it. Poetry might be my favorite form of writing, it is definitely the one that occupies most of the space on my bookshelf. For someone that reads to much of it, I suck at writing it. The poem has a smooth way to it and it flows very well. The rhyming cuplets bounce off of each other brilliantly.
